Genie Safety Policy & Safety Tips
Effective Date: 09/01/2026
Your safety matters to us. Genie is designed to help people build meaningful connections, but no online service can eliminate every risk. Staying safe is a shared responsibility.
This Safety Policy provides practical guidance for using Genie safely and explains some of the measures Genie may use to help protect our community.
1. Protect Your Personal Information
Take your time before sharing information that could identify, locate, or financially expose you.
Avoid sharing:
Your home address
Your workplace or exact daily routine
Financial account or payment information
Passwords, authentication codes, or account credentials
Sensitive personal documents
Information that could allow someone to access your accounts
Be mindful that photos, videos, backgrounds, or other content may unintentionally reveal your location or other personal information.
Never send money to someone you met through Genie solely because they claim to need urgent financial assistance.
2. Take Your Time
There is no need to rush a connection.
Use Genie’s communication features while getting to know someone and pay attention to how they behave over time.
Be cautious if someone:
Pressures you to move the relationship unusually quickly
Insists that you immediately move to another messaging platform
Attempts to isolate you from friends or family
Pressures you to share personal or financial information
Becomes angry when you establish boundaries
Attempts to create a sense of urgency or secrecy
Moving a conversation off Genie may reduce the availability of certain in-app safety and reporting tools. If you choose to communicate elsewhere, continue to use your judgment and protect your personal information.
3. Recognize Common Warning Signs
Use caution if someone:
Requests money, investments, loans, gift cards, cryptocurrency, or financial assistance
Claims to have an emergency and asks you to send money
Makes unusually strong relationship claims very quickly
Provides inconsistent or suspicious information about themselves
Refuses reasonable efforts to verify their identity while making significant claims about who they are
Pressures you to keep the relationship secret
Attempts to obtain sensitive personal information
Uses threats, manipulation, intimidation, or emotional pressure
Encourages you to participate in illegal or unsafe activity
Never send money or financial information to someone simply because you have developed an emotional connection with them.
4. Verify Before You Trust
Profiles and conversations are not a substitute for independent judgment.
Genie may provide identity-verification and safety features, but verification does not guarantee that a person's intentions, statements, background, or behavior are safe.
Consider gradually increasing the amount of personal information you share as trust develops.
If something does not make sense, ask questions and take your time.
5. Meet Safely in Person
If you decide to meet someone you met through Genie:
Meet in a public, populated location
Tell a trusted friend or family member where you are going
Consider sharing your location with someone you trust
Arrange your own transportation
Avoid giving the other person your home address initially
Keep control of your phone, wallet, identification, and other belongings
Have a plan for leaving if you become uncomfortable
Trust your judgment if something feels wrong
You never owe someone an explanation for ending a meeting or leaving a situation.
If you believe you are in immediate danger, contact local emergency services.
6. Use Genie’s Safety Controls
If another user makes you uncomfortable or behaves inappropriately, you can use available safety controls such as:
Block
Report
Mute
End a conversation
Reports may be reviewed using automated systems and, where appropriate, by authorized personnel.
Depending on the circumstances, Genie may take action including removing content, restricting features, suspending an account, or permanently terminating access.
We cannot guarantee that every unsafe person, behavior, or piece of content will be detected.
7. Voice Safety
Genie Voice is intended to make conversations more natural and personal while maintaining a respectful environment.
When using Voice:
Speak respectfully
Respect the other person's boundaries
Do not threaten, harass, intimidate, or abuse another person
Do not use sexually explicit or exploitative content involving minors
Do not pressure another person to disclose sensitive information
Do not record, reproduce, or distribute another person's private voice communication without appropriate permission
End or report a conversation if you feel unsafe
Voice interactions may be subject to automated safety processing and moderation as described in Genie's Privacy Policy and Terms of Use.
8. Respect the Genie AI
Genie's AI features are designed to facilitate conversations and provide matchmaking-related functionality.
Do not attempt to:
Manipulate or circumvent safety controls
Jailbreak or exploit the AI to produce prohibited content
Use the AI to facilitate fraud, harassment, abuse, or other harmful activity
Use the service to generate content intended to harm or deceive others
Circumvent technical restrictions or access controls
Attempts to misuse or circumvent Genie's systems may result in restrictions or termination of access.
9. Respect Other Users
Genie is a community built around meaningful connections.
Do not:
Impersonate another person
Use someone else's photos or identity without authorization
Harass, threaten, intimidate, or abuse another user
Engage in hate-based or discriminatory conduct
Engage in scams, fraud, or financial exploitation
Solicit money or financial assistance
Distribute another person's private information
Record or distribute private communications without appropriate permission
Use the Service for commercial solicitation or spam
Attempt to exploit, groom, traffic, or sexually exploit another person
Encourage another user to participate in illegal activity
Treat other users with dignity and respect, even when a connection does not work out.
10. Child Safety and Exploitation
Genie has a zero-tolerance policy for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) and child sexual abuse material (CSAM).
Genie prohibits:
Sexualized or sexually exploitative content involving minors
Grooming or predatory behavior
Sexual exploitation or trafficking of minors
Creating, requesting, possessing, sharing, promoting, or distributing CSAM
Attempts to facilitate or conceal the sexual exploitation of children
Any other conduct intended to sexually exploit or endanger a child
Genie is intended for adults and does not permit users below the applicable minimum age to use the Service.
We may use automated systems and, where appropriate, human review to detect, investigate, and respond to suspected violations of our child-safety rules and other serious safety concerns.
Accounts or content associated with serious violations may be removed or restricted. Where required or appropriate under applicable law, Genie may report suspected CSAM, child exploitation, or other serious threats to the appropriate authorities or organizations, including the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) in the United States.
If you believe a child is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services or law enforcement immediately.
11. Report Suspicious or Unsafe Behavior
Please report users or content that you believe violate Genie's Terms of Use or create a serious safety concern.
Examples include:
Requests for money or financial information
Suspected scams or fraud
Impersonation or identity deception
Harassment or threats
Sexual exploitation
Grooming or predatory behavior
Suspected underage users
Sharing of private information
Other serious or potentially dangerous conduct
When making a report, provide enough information for Genie to understand the concern where reasonably possible.
We may investigate reports and take action we consider appropriate under our policies and applicable law.
12. Trust Your Instincts
You do not need to continue a conversation that makes you uncomfortable.
If something feels wrong:
Slow down
Ask questions
Establish boundaries
End the conversation
Block the user
Report the behavior
Your safety comes before maintaining a conversation or connection.
13. Important Limitations
Genie cannot guarantee the identity, intentions, background, safety, honesty, or behavior of another user.
Safety tools, verification features, automated systems, AI-generated insights, and moderation processes are designed to reduce risk but cannot eliminate it.
You remain responsible for exercising reasonable judgment when communicating with and meeting other people, both on and off the
Service.
